Bill Maher needs to sit down and shut up

The human population focuses so much on weight and body image. It's basically how people define others and how they treat them.
"Oh he's the fat one over there?" ... "She's really wearing that with that belly of hers?" ... "Is she really going in for seconds? Hasn't she eaten enough for today?"
For some reason people see the appearance of others as their invitation for opinions. And Bill Meher is sadly one of those people.
Last month, Meher talked publicly about how "fat shaming needs to make a comeback." There are so many things wrong with this picture, I see nothing but red. But let's start off with the first thing as he compares the death from obesity to the deaths of mass shootings.
... Yeah, you heard me right.
HE COMPARED IT TO MASS SHOOTINGS. In what universe is that the safe thing?
But it gets so much worse.
His rant went on to talk about obesity, while throwing fat jokes around like it's nothing.
"Can fat be beautiful? That's in the eye of the beholder. But healthy? No."
Let me break this down for you real quick Meher. Just because you're speaking through your fear of being fat, doesn't give you any right to shame others. Fat people can be healthy. They can exercise, eat right, and do everything they are supposed to, and be perfectly healthy. Just because you deem them "fat" doesn't mean jack. Genetics can be very influential with body wait and so can the expense of eating food that's healthy.
You want to know why I don't order salads when I go out to eat? Because I can by two sandwiches for the price of one small salad. It's not as black and white as you would like to make it Meher.
He says something about how fat people can't control ourselves and how they "should not eat something." I've done that. I've starved myself. And you know what Maher, it actually hurt me more than it helped.
He calls those people "fat-asses" and then said, and I quote, "fat shaming doesn't need to end, it needs to make a comeback."
I physically screaming with rage.
You mean to tell me that you want people to bully, shame, hurt, and and ridicule others on their body because it'll make people not fat? Clearly you've never been fat shamed because it does the exactly opposite.
People who are fat shamed go through every situation possible to try to loose weight, most of which are hurtful to their health. But because fat shaming should apparently be acceptable, it doesn't matter how you get skinny as long as you do.
And don't even get me started on diet culture. It's a ruse. If it worked, we wouldn't have to do it anymore. Those companies would be out of work, but their not. They get people to lose a little weight, but keep them trapped forever because it doesn't stay. They profit off of people not being happy with their bodies.
"Some amount of shame is good." No Meher, as Late night host James Corden pointed out, it causes way more problems than it would ever fix. I speak from experience that is causes depression, anxiety, body-dysmorphia, eating disorders and much more.
I've struggled so much my whole life and I still feel insecure with my body and appearance and it's horrible people like Meher who make life feel unbearable and shameful.
I'm not a person who loves conflict, but if my fist ever connected with Meher's face, I would not be the least bit remorseful.
Fat shaming should NOT be acceptable. Society needs to not make people feel like any less because of their weight, appearance, or anything else pertaining to the human body.
My body is my body, and people need to mind their own damn business.
